LA MIRADA EDITION TRIBUNE
With the Thanksgiving Holiday nearly upon us, and the American turkey population plummeting to new depths this week alone, why not save a gobbler and chow on some good ol' fashioned rotisserie chicken instead.
If you're not careful, you might pass right by Juan Pollo at 12318 Valley View at Imperial in Whittier wondering where that delicious smell is coming from. The tiny Juan Pollo take-out is one of the newest of a decade-old growing chain. Don't be fooled by its size, it's backed by a network that sells over 25 tons of delicious mouth-watering chicken a week.
"Once anyone tries our chicken," said Whittier Juan Pollo operator Dick King, "I've got them hooked."
Juan Pollo chicken is marinated for five-to-six hours prior to a slow two-hour tour on the rotisserie. "We then add spices and our special secret ingredients," said King.
The tasty chicken peels right off the bone as a result of this painstaking process. Juan Pollo personnel are more like scientists trying to prepare the most delicious serving of rotisserie chicken possible.
A side effect to this method of preparation is a tastier, healthy meal, lower in fat than most other chicken take-out restaurants.
Juan Pollo also has reasonable prices and offers attractive daily specials. For instance, if you buy two whole chickens for under $16, you get one free. That deal includes 30 corn tortillas and salsa and a great idea for a family or even a small gathering.
Juan Pollo serves their rotisserie chicken in burritos, salads and in tacos; all for low prices.
All Juan Pollo side orders are prepared fresh daily, including their beans, potato salad, corn on the cob, tortillas and special Pollo Rice. The Pollo Rice is a welcome surprise with a healthy bits of chicken, vegetables, rice, and seasonings.
If you want a better tasting taco, burrito, half or whole chicken with plenty of trimmings, give that little Juan Pollo a try. |
